I made a video for my create version for designed essay, the video has the words “Dyslexics are not stupid, Dyslexics are creative thinkers.” With computer glitch effects, showing different colours and glitch noises through out it. This relates to my study because it shows that dyslexia is not a lack of intelligence but it is a different way of thinking.
The glitches within the video are there to represent the school system and how it is not working for dyslexic students and that not enough is being done to support them. I used the word “stupid” because one of my interviewees was told she was “stupid” when she was in secondary school by her teacher.
I made the colours of the glitch prominent to represent the creativity that dyslexic people have, the music used in the background is very powerful to enhance this and also to show that there is a big issue with the way dyslexic people are being perceived and being treated within the education system.
